Regular Season Game #7
Hooligans 4, Sporting Mexico 0
Goal Scorers: Gilles (4, 5),
Feodor (4, 5).
this is what the score of what
last weeks game shoulda been
like
start the game off with a bang
with 2-3 really good quality
scoring chances in the first
5 minutes. like last weeks
game, pop in an early goal in
the first 10-15 minutes, but
like last week's game as well,
have a hard time finding the
elusive 2nd goal. finally,
with about 20 minutes to go,
we get the 2nd goal and then
score the 3rd and 4th goals in
a 10 minute span (with a
beautiful feo header goal off
a gilles cross from the corner
of the 18 yard box)
uneventful second half with
few quality chances on either
end. we seemed content to sit
on our 4-0 lead and play a
little more long ball as
opposed to our ball control
style that's been working for
us the past 3-4 games. in the
dying minutes of the game,
tariq make a fantastic slide
tackle on an opposing player
on a breakaway to preserve a
shutout.
on a side note...this game
could have been played without
a ref. this is quite possibly
the worst ref we have had in
2-3 years easily. numerous
offside calls we're blown (on
both sides of the ball) and
many dangerous tackles were
not called (one of them put
gilles out of the game due to
an injury that the opposing
player even told the ref that
he should have whistled). the
ref even missed (somehow) a
hand ball by steph on a
passback that even had steph
laughing. good thing the
opposing team was good-
natured...if this was a rough
game against a rough team, it
could have gotten out of
control real fast.
